Nursery follows the Early Years curriculum with the focus on the prime areas of learning. They are: Communication and language, Physical development and Personal, social and Emotional Development.
In Duckling class we want children to…
-
Become effective communicators who share their thoughts and ideas. Find their voice
-
Build warm and positive relationships with practitioners so that children are taught to manage their emotions and how to build relationships.
-
Be physical and active. Opportunities to learn about being healthy and develop gross and fine motor skills.
-
To feel safe and happy.
-
Take care of their own personal needs by the end of ducking class.
The whole of the Early Years aims to create a language rich environment which enables all children to make progress in their learning. This is woven through our planned activities and child lead opportunities. We have chosen a number of high-quality texts to develop the children’s sense of self and of the world around them. The local school community features within our learning taking opportunities to enhance our lived experiences.
Dormouse Class.
The reception year still focuses on the prime areas but moves more into the seven areas of learning which are Mathematics and Literacy followed by Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
In Dormouse class we want children to …
-
Build their sense of self in their world
-
Have strong foundations in learning so they have the skills to be lifelong learners.
-
Use their natural curiosity to deepen their understanding of the world around them.
-
Build their attention.
-
Ensure they have the attributes to manage and maintain positive relationships.
-
